1-T. Liquid smoke
12-C. Cold water
Put turkey in large pan, I use my roaster. Set in refrigerator for three days. Keep turning it every day. Wash it first before you do all this. Butter it all over. When you get ready to roast it, add a little water to bottom of roaster. Roast for 5-6 hours at 300 degrees, or maybe a little longer.
I double the recipe.
If it is frozen, thaw in refrigerator.
Be sure to turn turkey every hour from side to side and also you might want to take a spoon and baste it every hour. ( 15 to 20 lb turkey )
Pour all the water off from the first three days before you start roasting it.
